Marquise are back, baby!
It sounds strange to say this but Marquise shapes have come back in style.
Recently there has been great demand for any fancy shapes that have "length" to them, like elongated cushions, ovals, and radiant cuts.
However, we want to show some love for our favorite quirky throwback shape, the Marquise cut.
In French, this shape is also known as "navette" which roughly translates to "little boat".
There have been several theories as to how this diamond shape received it's name.
One bit of lore traces back to the time of King Louis XV in France, where rumor has it that at a masked ball,
King Louis was so enthralled with the lips of Madame du Pompadour (being a masked ball, her lips where all he could see)
that he decided to have his designers create a diamond that was shaped like her lips.
All this aside, this shape makes for a great solitare or will look beautiful enhanced with side stones.
We have many well cut Marquise shaped diamonds in both natural and laboratory grown.
Please give us a call if you would like to see any of these in your store.
